Bass Masterclass - 11 Common FAQ's

I. Is reading music a critical requirement for participation on Bass Masterclass courses? No. You may be at an advantage if you do know how to read music, but be assured that every instructor adapts the class to suit the level of the students. 2. Im a total beginner. Is that OK? To get the most out of a Bass Masterclass weekend event, it is normally advisable that students have at least intermediate experience of bass playing. 3. Ive been playing for a few years, but cant seem to move on. Can a Bass Masterclass event help me? This is exactly why Bass Masterclass does what it does! If you are clearly looking for a way to grow and expand, then we will have a workshop suitable to re-ignite your playing. We invite only the best teaching artists to inspire you. 4. How much does it cost to attend a Bass Masterclass course? Please refer to the page, which will show you how much it is to attend a particular artists workshop. 5. I dont live in the city where Bass Masterclass is running a workshop. How do I go about arranging accomodation? If you need accommodation and prefer not to arrange this yourself, to let us know your requirements and we will arrange this service for you (subject to an additional fee). 6. What's the general schedule of the workshops? The weekend workshops are intensive so be prepared! We always start at 9:45am and finish the day at 6pm. Of course there are refreshment breaks and a lunch break during the day. For the exact topics, visit the page to see what the teaching artist on the workshop of your choice will cover. 7. I have a few basses. Should I bring all of them? No. Just bring the one youre most comfortable with. This will enable you to grasp the information without the instrument getting in the way. However, if your highest priority learning needs are specific to a particular instrument, (for example, improving your intonation on a fretless bass or playing chords on a six string bass) bring that bass also. There may be workshops where you will have to bring a specific bass e.g.: an upright or EUB for the upcoming upright course, or fretless or six string bass for weekend workshops that focus purely on those types of instruments. Dont worry, in such cases it will be clearly stated on the Artists / Courses so you know for sure. If it is not stated, then bring your regular bass. 8. Is there anything else I need to bring? In addition to your bass, please bring the following: Cable, notebook, tuner, audio recorder (optional). Note: Video taping of classes will not be allowed. Special Note: For a limited time only i.e. for courses before May 2008, students will also be required to bring a small practice amp. 9. Where are the 2008 Bass Masterclasses being held? Again, if you visit the page and click on the artist whos workshop you want to attend, this information will be made available. For details on a particular venue just click on the Venues link on the menu. 10. I cant make the whole weekend course. Can I still participate in part of a Bass Masterclass course? We dont normally allow or recommend this, however if you have exceptional circumstances then before making a paid booking. Otherwise, you are expected to plan ahead so that you can make full use of the entire weekend course. 11. When are your booking deadlines? We dont have deadlines as such. We accept bookings right until the day of the event if necessary. However please remember that because we accept only 20 students per weekend course, you will have to book, pay and plan early to avoid disappointment. We operate on a first come-first serve basis. If a class is full we will make it clear on the site most likely through the page.
